I set up my 135 G 3 days ago with a sand substrate. The water is still cloudy and I was wondering how long it usually takes for that to go away. Is there anything i can do to hurry the process along. I am kind of rushed because I have a 55 gallon that is bowing out and i want to move the fish before the tank breaks.

it usually takes a few days. took mine about 4. if you have a mechanical filter, keep an eye on it though. sand can clog the filter and cause it to malfunction.

can you brace the 55 with wood on the outside? might help to strengthen it til this one is ready to go.

I just went to buy some water clarifier so i am going to see if that helps. After we drain the 55 my hubby is going to fix the tank by putting a glass support in the middle of the tank. If it hasnt cleared up by tomorrow I may have to brace the smaller tank though. Just dont want to make the trip to lowes.
