the water in my shrimp tank has become really cloudy recently.

i haven't let any chemical or anything into the tank and I don't think i'm overfeeding, and the shrimps seem well, as do the snails.

the only thing i can think of is that either there's one of those bacterial blooms where the water goes cloudy, then clears up on it's own (seems strange because it's a mature tank), or a bloom of algae - the light is relatively bright, and there are few plants (but the cloudiness is white).

any ideas?

white cloudy water which doesnt even go away after a waterchange? if so yes it sounds like a bacterial bloom . great thread here by backtotropical should help out.

well yeah, i did a water change, it sort of thinned, but within 2 days it's back. there are rotting plants in the tank and backtotropical mentions that as a cause in established tanks....
