Hello all:

I have a 29 gallon tank (30"L x 12"W x 18"H), and it's been cycled for over one week now. 7 weeks running (with water) 6 weeks with fish. The reading are:

PH 8.0
NH3/NH4+ 0 mg/l (Ammonia)
NO2 0 mg/l (Nitrite)

It has not changed for over one week + now. (Almost two weeks) My fish are doing great ;) My water is not crystal clear yet tho...it still has cloudy water (the top and bottom of the tank) I have 5 fish now (since the beginning)

1 Dwarf Gourami
2 Gold Gouramis
2 Ornate Cory Cats.

When does the water become crystal clear? Also, I thought that meant cycling was over. :dunno: Any info will be helpful.

I'll tell you that it took my tank 3 months from when I started it to get crystal clear. Just wait and it should clear up on its own or you can go to the store and trying using one of the products that clumps together the particles so that your filter can catch them.

I agree, just wait it out, this type of clouding is typical for new tanks, just let it mature. Also, don't clean out the filter for a while, let that stablize and mature as well.

Just wait for your filter to catch up on it. I guess when you do heavy vacuuming or if you redecorate i guess you'll make the water blurry. I just added real plants right now and my water got a little blurry, but it's not a big deal it will clear up on a couple of days :D .........

have i been lucky then?

my tanks been running 2 weeks was cloudy for first day or so, fish very happy(12 neons, 2 dwarf gurami, 4 guppies, 2 catfish), used gravel etc from a established tank.

This is a bacterial bloom. This normally occurrs when the tank has been overloaded. After the tank cycle, you should have added 1 or 2 fish each week, until the tank is fully stocked. This slowly builds up the ammonia, giving the nitrifying bacteria to break it down. Keep an eye on the ammonia and nitrite levels, if it spikes, perform a 10%-15% water change for a few days until it goes down. Otherwise, it will take some time, from a few weeks to several weeks. Just be patient.
