Hi

1 month ago I upgraded to a 75g tank and started it off with stability & the filter media from my established 30g tank.

Over the next 10 days i transferred ALL my fish with stability used aling the way and other than a few very very small amonia and nitrite spikes it was fine. Neither ammonia or nitrite got above the first reading on each chart.

Last 2 weeks there has been no amonia or nitrite at all.

Water has been clear since day 1 and I had a BIO CHEM ZORB pouch in from the start due to having a big piece of drift wood which I was told was likely to leech tannin.

My ph is 6.5 and temp 29 degrees.

My problem is that the water cloudier and cloudier from 5 days ago. I then thought maybe the BOI CHEM ZORB pouch had run out dur to the tank being bigger than the reccommended amount per pouch.

So 2 days ago i replaced with 2 new BIO CHEM ZORB pouch and changed filter wool. Also added dose of clarity. Next morning water was much much better. 99% clear.

However today It has just began to get slightly cloudy again. Only by a small amount but even this seems a strange trend gicven the 2 BIO CHEM ZORB and the fact it was ok yesterday.

The white filter wool is showing some sign of the tannin.

IS THIS POSSIBLY JUST A FACTOR OF THE TANK BEING QUITE NEW OVERALL???? AND IT WILL IMPROVE OVER TIME AS IT SETTLES?

OR IS THERE SOMETHING UNDERLYING WRONG TO BE CAUSING THIS?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like new tank bacteria bloom.
Your filter probably hasnt caught up and bacteria in the water multiply at a huge rate and cause cloudiness. Dont worry about it, just check the ammonia etc daily to be sure they dont spike.
If you do a water change, dont clean your filter media and dont leave them out the water for more than 30 seconds if you can, or they die.
Should clear in a day or 2. I usually add melafix while its doing this, but thats just me.

Hi............

I have been using clarity to keep the tank clear but the cloudyness comes back within 24 hours??????????????//
