Cloudy Water

The heater I have for the fishies says that the lid needs to be on at all times and failure to do so will result in excessive heat loss. Is it possible that having a lid on the tank could cause the water to get cloudy quicker?

I dont think you want your tank to get cloudy!

Lids have nothing to do with water quality (keeps out dust... nothing important)

ooooh..well its good it's not the lid. But what do you think could be causing it to be cloudy?

It's probably a bacteria bloom.....too many fish at once???

Do a 25% water change and if you have a charcol type filter you can change it out for a fresh one.....Should be clear in a day or so

o.o well I have 2 platies 1 moly and 1 guppie. Is that too many for a 5 gallon tank?

that's teetering on the edge of too many fish, but the cloudiness is probably just a bacterial bloom as mentioned. That just means your tank is cycling,don't worry it WILL go away eventually

Yeah. I just got finished reading about feeding my fishies (eheh) and it sounds like I'm feeding them too much. I'll have to cut back since there usually is some food on the bottom and that may be causing the cloudiness. ^.^
