OK not sure where i've gone wrong but here goes...

I bought some non-toxic playsand for my new 125 ltr tank and spent over an hour washing it to remove the unwanted smaller grains of sand. Added the sand to my tank along with the decor and then filled the tank with water. At first the water was a little cloudy but after about 20 mins the water was nearly crystal clear. Left the tank overnight and the next morning the tank was still crystal clear. I then turned on the Juwel filter and the thermometer and when I came home from work that day the water was still clear. However, the next day the water has become really cloudy and murky. Is this normal? Should I be doing partial water changes to sort this out?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I never had sand yet, so I don't know if it's normal - but I think your idea of a water change certainly can't hurt anything. If you don't have fish yet, I would do a pretty large water change, like half or 2/3 maybe. Hopefully someone else can comment on this who has done sand before.

is it the sand thats making the water cloudy if so then i dont kno maybe just try sum water changes

but if its just the water is mirky then try a chemical called kents freshwater pro-clear

it worked like a charm when i used it

cleared up the water in less then 5 hours

OK, did a 30% water change last night but still the same. Really confused as to why it was clear for the first 2 days and then went cloudy. Will keep doing water changes unless anybody else has any suggestions?
