Hi
Im off on hols for 10 days tomorrow morning and got some tertamin holiday food which states that it is safe and doesnt pollute the water.
I thought I would be clever and put it in a day early to make sure all will be ok.
This morning the water is a cloudy grey. Do I need to do anything? Is this a problem? I only have 12 hours to sort it out!

Thanks

This is the product-http://www.amazon.co.uk/TETRAMIN-HOLIDAY-FOOD-TROPICAL-FISH/dp/B000S5HX7K

Water change.
I wouldn't risk using it if it clouded your water up the first time.
Is there anybody that can come into your house every few days to feed the fish.

It'll be due to the main constituent in the "holiday block"... Ash. put in them to slowly dissolve...
most sinking tabs have the same (but a lesser percentage)

It shouldn't do any harm but I'd add extra aeration to the tank just in case... then just leave them.

I dont use them though - I get my parents to drop in every few days and feed sparingly.

Probably too late for this post but if you are haven't left and see this, I would suggest you remove it and just leave the fish unfed. Fish can easily go 2 weeks without food and the tank will be a total mess when you come back if you leave the block in. Another option is have someone check on the tanks for you and feed pre-measured food to them. Just put a normal amount of food in cups or something like that (hide all other food so they can't decide to add more) and tell them to simply pour in one cup each day they come by.

agreed

get the thing out, big water change, leave the fish as they are!

you know the tetramin holiday food is the only one that i actually Would recommend, I use them everytime i go away and it has never effected my water quality,

unlike the blocks this holiday food is a Daphnia based Gel fitted into a plastic tray, IMO it is no different than feeding the sachets of freeze dried foods in jelly.

It would be good to know if the filter had been cleaned previously or if any other changes were made to the tank that could have also caused cloudy water. I realise that food blocks are often known to cause water problems but i have never had that problem withe this particular type.
