My tank is 60L (15US Gallons), its been up for a while but only had fish in it for about 2 weeks. Initially did a fishless cycle (which i had some complications but in the end it all worked out), and then i added 1 betta and 6 panda cories. Im running a sponge filter and an aquaclear 150, got a few silk plants and decorations and gravel. Temperature is around 26 degrees celcius. I have been feeding a few sinking wafers for my cories a day and some live worms for my betta.
My readings are
Ammonia : 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 10ppm
The cloudiness is whitish in colour, its not too bad, but its too visible for my liking. I have good filtration and i was just wondering why my tank could be cloudy?
I change my water once to twice a week 25-30%. Dechlorinate with Prime, Stress coat or Wardley Tri-start.
Any ideas?
thx

Hi there :D
Just a thought, I may be way off but what's your PH? If the water is very alkaline it may be cloudy (chalky?) also, did you rinse the gravel well before putting in, I recently bought a used tank with fish and the gravel was yuk!! Cloudy water soon settled though.
Good luck

It could also be a bacteria bloom in which case it should soon clear. :)

you say I've had it set up for a while.
how long is a while?
you say its had fish in it for 2 weeks.
were there no fish in it during the while?

It sounds to me like it is cycling and that is why you have a bcterial bloom (cloudyness).

The reason why i said i had it set up for a while is that it took me at least 3 months to 4 months to get the fishless cycle done... i kept adding ammonia and waiting and then after i got fed up i did some water changes. But in the end it did cycle, and i was adding ammonia every day after that just to keep it cycled.
If my tank was cycling right now, how can my readings be
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrates: 10ppm
The readings have been like this for a couple weeks now...
