My tank is established according to a master test kit. But before there was a little too much nitrites in my tank. So I added nitromax by Tropical Science. Now my tank is cloudy. I did 2 water changes and changed the filter. I can't get the cloudiness in my tank to disappear and it smells bad. What should I do? I would appreciate any advice. Do I keep doing water changes or leave it alone? Thanks.

There are no ammonia and nitrite readings anymore. But an earlier test using a quick dip test revealed nitrite in the caution zone which is why I added nitromax and did a water change. Now the tank is so extremely cloudy and I can't get it to clear up. It stinks too. I hope my cloudy tank doesn't kill my fish. -_-

If it looks like a water downed milky color, then it probably is a bacterial bloom. Completely harmless to the fish, and will resolve on its own. If the fish seem stressed adn there isn't ammonia or nitrite in the tank or any other sign of illness, add an airstone.

As for the smell, all my fish tanks have a slightly fishy smell. :fun:

What He/She says, I experienced this early on in all my tanks and it took from two days to two weeks to completely dissapear on its own. As long as your readings are ok, don't fret, it will soon be clear.

Thank you. I won't worry about it anymore. It's not pretty but the good news is that it won't hurt the fish and it will go away. It's just taking forever and I'm not a very patient person. Thank you so much for the replies. :)
