Fred and the Fredettes
Male, approx 3 inches, for last month or two i had noticed one of its eyes had a real small "sheen" to it, a little bit more opague that it should be, but you had to really look good to notice it. Anyway was like that for a good 6-8 weeks, even longer, now over last 5-7 days has got worse, is now almost "white" and looks almost like a blister in a way. Fish is swimming, eating and spawning as per usual.
In this tank i test the water every week without fail even though its been MONTHS since i detected any Nitrite. Never had Ammonia come up on tests. 2x Internals Filters (Rio 180), and i am good with the water changes (30%) weekly, sometimes 40%. The most it would go without a water change is about 12 days i think. Nitrate varies, from 30-60 mg/l
Not overstocked in accordance with guidelines.
I know eye issues are usually Bacterial and related to water quality, but i know we all might say this, but the water quality in this tank is fine (from tests anyway), and no other fish have an issue
I cant really take him out, i would have to uproot whole tank to catch him, I added some meds (King British) which contains both an anti parasite agent and anti bacterial agent, it hasnt made any difference (although i was loathe to med the whole tank for one fish but i did, they are all robust Convicts or baby Midas),
What does one do? I plan on "leaving it" and only intervening if he starts suffering. I am guessing he will lose the eye and that will be the end if it (i hope).
What do peeps think?
PS - eye is slightly sticking out too, but only a tiny bit in relation to other eye
