Seems that I used to have really clear water. Now I can not get it as clear as it used to be and trying to figure out a way to make it clearer. I have 2 filters on a 20G tank. 105g/h filter and 150g/h filter. So does 12.x full tanks an hour. This probally is not as accurate as they slow down from time to time.

I am looking for something I can put into my HOB filters to get rid of the smaller particles in the water to clear it up a bit.

That is one thing I have been looking at. But it does not seem to be fine enough to get rid of the small particles. Any ideas on how to clear this up?

Floss works for smaller particles but needs to be replaced frequently as it clogs up fast. I run it in box filters & it needs to be replaced weekly. I feed a lot of bbs in fry tanks, and it takes care of any excess.

i did have a problem like this once, i used a hydor pico mini filter with carbon wrapped in foam. it was in for 24 hous, i then took it out and threw the carbon away. worked for me. but it just cleaned the water, there must be an underlying problem, which my be harder to solve. perhaps stripping each filter in turn , and clean the casings. but them back and see if that helps. dont clean the media when you do this just the housings. if that has no effect, clean the media bit by bit till tis all done.

I cleaned out both medias over the last week. I took out the housings on both filters and cleaned with hot water and got a lot of buildup from it. I do not do a gravel vac so the gravel has a lot of bacteria in it now. When i reassembled one of the filters, it seems the motor stopped working :(. I might have to move over one from another tank to help with the filtration.

Is there a finer filter floss that i can get to put in there after the larger filter floss to get rid of small particles?

Thanks.

I will check out that middle one. Thanks.

May be getting a new filter so may only need this for a short time.

I was having trouble shifting some really fine silt when I set my newest tank up, I tried loads of filter media, but in the end I used a Interpet Filter Aid, a liquid you add to the tank, it sticks all the finest particles together, which then allows your filter to remove them, it worked first time and cleared my tank within the hour, bloody brilliant!!
