What kind of filter do you use?
What kind of filter media do you use in it?
How often do you rinse the filter media?
How often do you do water changes?
How often do you clean the gravel?
Is the murkiness white, green, or some other color?

I am having the same type of problem with the water not being very clear. I got my tank about two months ago.

Here is what i have:

1) 30 Gallon Tank
2) Using a Whisper 40 Filter
3) Undergravel filter
4) The filter is new about a month ago
5) I have been doing 10% water changes every other day to lower ammonia levels
6) Have only cleaned the gravel once and that was when i got it which was about two months ago.
7) The water has like a white haze to it. Just isn't clear like i see in fish stores.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to do a gravel vac more often. This is because lots of rubbish builds up in the gravel and will get released into the water.

Did you clean it properly? Has the water always been murky?

yeah i have the gravel vac and i run it over the gravel and get the waste and food up. I even take out all of the decorations. Also it has always been that murky white cloud. Do you think it might have been because i didn't clean the gravel that well.

Quite possibly. It will clear up in time, as long as you leave the filter on, although it seems quite strange that it hasn't already. Perhaps you are experiencing some kind of algae or bacteria bloom?

do you think that i should add some type of clearwater solution or just let it go and see what happens in time?

I would continue with your water changes, gravel vac frequently, and see what happens over time.

Sounds like a bacterial bloom, just increase your substrate cleaning sessions, cut down on feeding your fish a bit and increase water changes and filter current and it'll soon pass- its pretty harmless as long as you make sure the water is well oxygenated and doesn't have any ammonia/nitrites, don't use any chemicals to remove the bloom as more often they make it worse or cause your tank to mini cycle.

The only way you will get gin clear water is if you use a Diatomic Filter (once a week).
