Hello :)

For those who vacume their gavel and have live plants. When you vacume your gravel do you uproot and move your live plants? or just vacume around them and leave them alone?

I was just wondering what i should do.

thank you all ;)

I usualy clean just close to the plants but I also hold the gravel cleaner just above the gravel to skim the dirt off the plant and the gravel surrounding the plant. If the plant has healthy roots, it will keep the gravel healthy to some degree, but if you've got big messy ciclids or catfish, I'd say you would be better having the plants in pots so you can give all the gravel a good clean.

All of my live plants are either attached to rocks (java fern) or of the Anubus (may have spelt that wrong :X ) variety so they prefer not to be rooted into the gravel.

This way I can move them to where ever I want (keeps the fish thinking as well!).

I only uprooted my plants when they were new. After they have grown a good root system they shouldn't come out during gravel vacuuming. It sure is a pain to have to replant them again though.

i just vacum around the plants.cause there isn't much waste as there is in open areas also the plants use the waste as a guide of fertilizer.
