Cleaning Skimmers

How often do people clean there skimmers? Are there any advantages/disadvantages as a result?

i empty mine every 3 days and clean the clean the cone bit every week. if i leave it much longer then the gunk collected is alot more watery.

i clean mine when it needs it. If you do it too often then your stopping it bedding in and skimming at its best

I also only clean mine when i need to, after a while of owning a skimmer I think it is fairly easy to tell if it's not skimming at it's best and clean it accordingly, to dirty it will not skim well, but as Ben mentioned if not bedded in for a day or two, you will also see a drop in proformance.

Mine tends to get noisy if it needs cleaning, so thats when I do it
