Cleaning Equipment?

Hey, I just got a used tank, and the lady i bought it from said that i would need to clean the equipment off. The fliter adn lid and stuff has some white stuff on it. What is safe to use to clean it?

Hot salty water.

Yes and add quite alot good at cleaning tank stuff, plus the tank itself, but leave aday or two for the equipment and tank to dry out, give the filter a good clean by stripping in down and scrub in salty water, then get a bucket of hot salty water and run it for a while, then throw salty water away then rinse it in just water by running the filter again.
