Cleaning Dragon Rock

I have various pieces of dragon Rock in my tank and each water change I brush to remove surface algae build up. However, if I miss my weekly water change due to be away on business etc, the algae is a bugger to remove.

Any ideas to help remove it?

Could I remove the rock and bleach it, soak it then rinse and return to tank to get back to a good starting point?

Yes it's safe, use one part bleach with nine parts water to create your bleach solution.

You can soak the rocks in the solution for 10–15 minutes brush them and rinse abundantly in dechlorinated water.
