Cleaning dead algae?

I have dried algae on my tank that i obtained second hand. I dont want to scrub it because it resides on the actual sealant... can i dissolve it somehow?

Watered down hydrochloric based toilet bowl cleaner like sno-bowl will take it off. Use gloves, as it will remove your skin also. Full strength tends to tear up the edges a bit where it meets the glass. Rinse really well afterwards.
