I've noticed some splotches and oil like marks on the exterior of my tank along with streaks and such. What does everyone suggest for cleaning the exterior acrylic easily and safely?

Windex on a paper towel?!

I use a Coralife product called Acrylic Buffer-Polisher with an old face cloth. I remember reading somewhere that it is best to not use an ammonia based cleaner like Windex on acrylic.

Agreed, NO solvent based cleaners AT ALL on acrylic. Also no acidic or basic cleaners. You can use alcohol and water, or just distilled/RO/DI water and a paper towel if you want. I'd avoid isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol as it can be toxic to some vertebrates. I try to keep toxic things away from my tank lest I accidentally drop them in :/. Ethanol is probably your best bet.

go to a car spares shop and get some acrylic glass clearer if the stuff is good enought to clean the rear window on a porsche or fittari then its good enought for my tank

spray it onto a soft tissue and wipe the tank clean dont spray anything dirrectly onto the tank glass just in case it gets in the water

this stuff is great and i think they would have made it properly as they wont want people sueing them if it scratches the soft top roof on their £125,000 car 8)
