Hello all
I hope you are well!
Please could I have some advice?
I picked up a second hand tank setup yesterday and it needs a good clean.
Is there a difference between ‘cleaning’ vinegar and standard white vinegar?
Any other hints and tips to get this tank sparkling? I’m only worried about the scale on the tank glass really; I did get given a bag of goodies with it but am going to be transferring over my filter (external) to this one.
I know I can’t use viakal and the like as I’ll have dead fish, but apart from vinegar, do you have any recommendations?
Many thanks for taking the time to read

Sarah

Agree with the above, white vinegar is the way to go...you may need to soak it a bit, and reapply a time or two

Most importantly, before you spend time doing ANY cleaning, be sure to leak-test the tank outdoors...

Iv only ever felt with second hand tanks and iv always used salt and lemon juice but honestly warm water and a good scrub is what it alwways come down to regardless of what magic you put on

As long as the tank is completely empty you could use anything you want but white vinegar is best. Afterwards rinse it very well and then rinse it very well again and let it air dry. I might be tempted to use CLR except it might wreak havoc on the silicone sealant.
I would just stick with white vinegar... You never know what they may add to the cleaning variety...
I agree with @Back in the fold

White vinegar, razor blade, sponge. Pretty much everything you need. Also warm water.
