I've just come home to find that one of my cleaner shrimp has moulted! What I wasn't expecting is the colour of him... the parts of him that are usually white are kind of brown? Presume it's the the shell hardening?

Not heard or seen that before! You got a photo mate? Do you mean on his back?

It's his back yeah, just trying to fish it out.... he's plodding around and seems happy enough, they both hide around the back of the tank though so it's difficult to get pictures!

they'll get bolder in time. I've not heard of that before, perhaps Donya will be on later and might know. If he's moving around happily them i'm sure he's ok!

See the one on the bottom is different in colour, he's the one I presume has moulted. Just fished the moult out and I'm afraid I trashed it trying to take a photo . Has to be said they're not as impressive as my old tarantula moults though

My cleaner shrimp has moulted and is sort of yellowy brown where he used to be white as well so i would assume it's natural unless anyone else comes on to say otherwise.

My cleaner shrimp has moulted three times in the space of a month.

Oh I see!! Yeh that's fine mines that colour, I think it's when they eat, cos they're see through!

No idea sorry :( I'd wait for nemo! I'd guess it's best to keep one type though?

Are cleaner shrimps ok to go in with my peppermint shrimps?

I've seen them together before without any probs but prob beat to wait for someone that knows for sure.

As for the cleaner shrimp, he looks fine. When they shed there skin it takes a while for thier new skin to harden. So they usually stay out the limelight for a bit! Lol

When a cleaner sheds his skin it's usually a good sign that he's happy and healthy.

Yeh you can mix kinds of shrimp provided you have enough space and food. I keep 2 cleaners and a peppermint.
