Clean filter or leave till spring?

Hi.Just wondering with the colder weather now upon us,would it be ok to give the filters a clean out, or leave until the spring?
Only feeding wheatgerm every couple of days,and have turned everthing down now.
*Edit* im using a "pressurised filter"

If you think there is a need for cleaning it should be fine. However, if you have stopped feeding as much and everything is settling down for winter then I should think all your water parameters are in check and there is no need to clean it out.

Hi ryan,yep i only feed a couple of times a week now.
Checked all levels last week and they are fine,so maybe ill leave it till the warmer weather returns (whenever that will be)

im tending to check my filter once in a blue moon as a lot of my algea is dying off wether its the weather or the uv im not sure but im getting quite a build up in the filter could lead to an overflow just thought id point that one out

I'm getting an overflow with all the rain,I'll fish at the bottom of the garden soon

Lol, our pond has a leak it seems somewhere, not I have no time to do anything really. Maybe we can get them rebuilt next year

I'm going to have to get freezing cold and clean our pond filters in the dark as the flows slowed right down back into the pond and just gushing up to the other pond!!

There,s a leak in our liner Paul, all through the summer we had to keep topping it up.Good excuse for making a bigger pond next year
