Clay Pots

I just bought this little clay thing, it's not a pot it's a bird feeder, it's really cute (i want to use it like a hiding place). And I put it to boil because I don't know what I should do exactly for it to be safe to put in... Is there anything else I need to do or is it ok to go ahead and stick it in??

yes boil it to kill any nasties that maybe on it, let it cool naturally as you don't want it to break due to a sudden temperature change.
be carefull terracotta holds heat for a long time.
