I read somewhere that clawed frogs make a noise, I suppose a croak of sorts.
Anyways, I finally heard him lastnight as I was walking by the tank.

It was pretty cool actually!

I need to get him a lady friend!
Just gotta make sure she's as big or bigger!

Yeah, frog noises are pretty fun. I have a male African Dwarf Frog, and he makes this humming noise that sounds like a malfunctioning remote control car. Scared the crap out of me when I first heard it...thought my remote control car was on the fritz. Now I know it's just the frog, and I've come to enjoy it...except when I'm trying to sleep.

I havent heard my dwarfs make any noise yet, I've got two males and a female.
I'll have to spend more time by the tank!

You may not be able to hear it if there is other noise in the room. They're fairly quiet; though lately my male has just been getting louder and louder. How he knows it's spring is beyond me, but he knows!

I have five of the frogs, I havent heard any noise's yet, maybe its because my pumps are so god dam loud, lol.

How can you tell which is male & female?

Anyone know what age they are when they start to pair off?

They don't pair off. The males just grab the nearest frog for some action. Sometimes they get lucky and the frog they grab is a girl. But only sometimes.... ;)

Males make noise. Females don't. Males have a small white or light pink pimple on their side underneath their forearms. Females have it, too, but it's MUCH more obvious in males. Females are more broad through the body, while males are more slender. This is only evident in adults. Also, females have a small stub of a tail that males don't have.

One big way to tell, though...if the frog is grabbing other frogs around the waist from behind...it's a boy. But that doesn't mean the recipient of the...frog hug...is a girl.
