Does anyone else feel the new classified section is a lot slower than it was before it was divided?
I think splitting it that way was the wrong approach and would be better split into areas, so that I would only need to go to say, the South East section and not trawl the 5 boards trying to find Essex/London adverts. Sections - South East, North East, North West, South West, Ireland, Wales, Scotland.

One thing though, about the "areas" people that want things etc. are willing to travel so you would have to check through all of them. (IMO) - I carn't comment on the speed of things as I wasn't arround before they changed it.

that is true mate but I wouldn't of thought people in cornwall would check the scotland board, if you get me. I just think having a board for plants that gets 2 posts a week is a bit of a waste of a board and I still have to check all the boards regularly just to find something near me

I'd agree....not with the slowness but the new layout. I don't bother to check the classifieds anymore as I can't be bothered trawling through 4 or 5 sub-forums to see what I could previously see in just one. One forum is all you need to all sales, swaps etc....just section it off by country and leave it at that.

Hopefully it won't stay this way for long...

as someone new to teh forum i also use view new posts each day but i have to say when i have been looking for bits for the tank it would have been easier if it was 1 forum topic and not broken down ito specific area's.

if you are looking for things and posting is an option where do you put it ?
as it is for sale to teh whole of UK and not just your local region

IMHO a sigle sales & swap forum and a seperate Wanted section would be my preference

Perhaps a Sales section that only includes items that can be posted. Then a few sub sections for areas of the UK...

SO it would end up:

For Sale - Only Postable Items
South East - Collection
North East - Collection
North West - Collection
South West- Collection
Ireland - Collection
Wales - Collection
Scotland - Collection
Wanted - Both to collect or paying for postage

That way you may have to post in two area if you're selling something that is postable + you wouldn't mind people collecting. But it might make things better?
Just an idea :)

That's not feasible...while it may 'only' be 9 overall forums for the UK (which is still far too many)..now apply that same rule to the USA...you'd end up with probably 80 odd forums or something.

Imo, one forum for the UK is plenty, maybe a few more for the States as it's a considerably bigger country but minimising the number of forums you need to check should be the general rule when setting this stuff up.

An easier way would be making it mandatory to state the area you live in, in the title. That way it's a searchable property... (Don't know why I didn't think of that before)

See it used to be that way before, you had 1 UK section and had to put say Essex in the title. Much better, faster paced too. I think people have stopped bothering with it as much now.

I agree with Mel that it does seem to be slower than before, although I like not having to trawl thru, wanted, plants posts etc when all I want to see is if certain items are for sale.

Utilize the search function more options. Click on United Kingdom in the search where section. Type in the word "location", and click the box for searching the entire post.

This will bring up every topic using the form, as every form has the word "location" in it. If it isn't using the form don't expect it to be up there long without it.

You can do that with a word common to many sales; for. This brings up pages of UK ads, with the section it is in to help you figure out what it is without even clicking on the topic. This will get you to the pre-form topics as well.

I like the look of the new forum, however have to agree, why the heck can't people put their location in the title

so for example: Essex - will post

Or when you hover over the title a little box comes up showing you the main details without having to click on the post

I have to agree I do like the idea of putting the location somewhere in the title, this does make it easier for everyone.
