Hello,

So yesterday I got myself two Clarkii Clown fish and one pulsing xenia, Today I feed my clowns some brine shrimp and they loved it but I also saw one of my crabs dead with just its claws and legs (no shell or insides) I believe its a hermit crab (red) im not 100% sure.

ALSO

How do I feed my pulsing xenia? I got myself some frozen food for it and the man told me to put it in a cup till unfrozen and then put it in my tank so I did, I never saw anything go in really and non went near the xenia. So can someone tell me how to feed it so that it gets the food?

Many Thanks Eigdoog :good:

if there is no meat then it is a very high possibility that it was a molt (a crab shedding its skeleton to grow some more and then build a new skeleton) give it a few days and you should see the crab again.

You wont want to feed the xenia.

Why should i not feed the xenia? do you mean now or at all?, i got told to feed it every 2 days. If i do have to feed it later on how would i do so?

There was no shell to the crab only the red claws and legs plus its face/mouth and a slimey bit from the back. i have 3 of them in my tank and i still see the other two. would the clowns not eat it atall?

Many Thanks Eigdoog :good:

You don't need to feed the xenia atall and your description of the crab shell/skin as musho said sounds like it has moulted.

Agreed, its just moulted and grown a little bigger

xenia will feed itself from the water.

Jon

the last thing you want is your xenia to grow any faster than what it already does.

Oh, well the man told me they grow fast but by the sounds of things there fast fast.

i think i have other corals growing from the live rock, should i try and feed them?
