I've regularly seen these for sale, and are amazed by them. Planet catfish has them down as growing up to 40", and I know that as catfish are, they shouldn't be kept with small tankmates, but can anyone with experience of these fish tell me much about their behaviour, and what they were like? What sort of tank might be needed to keep a pair?

Many thanks

heya! yer, these fish are funny creatures. They are called walking catfish because they are able to, as if it were, "walk" on land because it does breathe air, wierd? It isn't wise to keep them in a tank with small fish as these will be eaten. It isn't an aggressive fish in my experience, but then again you can't be sure on fish.
If you have plants, they will need to be well planted because this fish will dig like a weather loach, for example, but alot bigger.
The tank will need to be pretty big because they grow big! (Mine to about 31inches). It will need a good place to hide. I would suggest rocks in a tank because the catfish will also try dig under them and falling rocks in a tank isn't good at all.
Erm, what else is there to know? lol -_-

Clarius are gluttonous pigs, their one goal in life is to eat and they will eat anything including the fins off of fish they cannot swallow, a species tank is definately in order for them.

I saw one today and it was just the most useless looking fat loser of a fish. Don't get me wrong, I still like them, but honestly, they were a bit of a disappointment.

off topic: what are those fish called that look like live rock?
FW or SW
if its SW its probly a stonefish which is one of the most poisonous fish you can buy.

Clarius are some of the mopst vicous cats ive seen. ive heard of someones shop getting one that somehow got out and spent like 3 days living under a cabinet. dunno if its true. i think it may have been someone on here

Sounds like a fishy tale but they apparently close their gills to retain water while they walk over land, so, it's not impossible I guess.

Any one have any links to information about these fish.

I got three of them, they literally own the tank, even the 4 pirahnas I have let these bad boys walk all over them.

Suppose im also a little concerned as to whether they are going to declare war on my tank at some point. They dont appear very nasty towards the other fish though they are very incosiderate, they just barge theeir way around knocking other fish out of the way they couldnt care less, they often splash water out of the tank and my dog is sh*t scared to go in my room now. Also - do they have teeth?cuz they frequently go up to other fish in the tank and kiss/ bite (lol) them. Mine are huge, they eat everything including dog food (lol) and rump steak (lmfao)...their stomachs stretch so big after a feast they look funny.

Any links would be appreciated cheers.
