i'v got myself an orange freshwater clam it hasn't opened yet but it has some transparent membrame ozzing from it that my other fish are eating , is this normal ?
The membrane is probibly due to stress. The lack of opening could also be down to that
Clams are filter feeders, and there is rarely enough food in a tank to support these guys long-term. They will go longest in a well established large tanks, and can usualy do a long time in a tank that is surrering greenwater issues. TBH, i wouldn't hold hopes up on it lasting too long. In a way, this is normal, yes, so don't worry too much
Be careful if it goes over in a small system, as they could well drag the rest of the tank down also
All the best
Rabbut
EDIT to add; this assumes a freshwater system. Marine clams can do well under strong light and with phytoplancton feedings
