hey,
My Lylac blue was doing fine since i got him, then yesterday i never saw him, then tday aswell, so i looked in his cave and lifted it up and he swam out, with clamped fins.
Colours still good, the betta on the other side of the divider is fine, He has abit of a problem swimming, but im guessing thats because of the clamped fins. He's not even flaring -_-

Whats wrong?

water change was day before i found him.
the temp is fine and normal.

I'll do another water change for god measure and wait and see.

In my honest, honest, honest opinion? The first thing that springs to mind is that brief adventure he had with his neighbor just last week. It could be one of two things- he was stressed and possibly became vulnerable to a parasite, although that's unlikely. Or, he got a taste of that sweet, sweet adrenaline rush a betta feels when they're about to get in a fight and now he's ruined for life. He's tasted it- it's what makes them tick.

Do NOT do this, but I'm willing to bet if you yanked that divider- he would perk right up
I'd change his enviroment around, maybe go as far as switching sides...?

See, i was thinking thats a possibility.
But after i took the other VT to his own tank and put a new divider in that had no gaps etc, i put a CT on the other side, and he was happy. Swimming around, flaring at mirrors, eating bloodworms etc etc. But just two days ago, he just seemed to stop wanting to swim around -_- he was totally fine after the brief
"incident".

I'll try mixing up his area, or float a male in a jar to see if he does anything.

Thanks.

It seems like he just lost the will to live.
I floated a male in a jar in his side of the tank,
The only thing that happened is that the one in the jar made a massive nest.
Now he just lies on his side on a rock, doing nothing. It looks like he is depressed.

One of the Plakat Betta's I bought a few weeks back... seems to have clamped fins too. Was pretty sure that it was because he was kept in a small cup, probably with poor water conditions. It has been several weeks... he does flare thogh and when he spreads his fins he looks pretty normal... but his fins seem more crumpled than my other plakats when he is relaxed.

Have not been able to do anything about it.

I came up to check on him, and he wasn't breathing.
Died in his cave.
Poor little guy.....

Sorry to hear that DD. Have lost a fair number of fish, and each loss still stings. You gave him a good life. Am sure he was happy to have been acquired by you DD.

Sorry DD :-( I feel bad for you, but you did your best. Hugs
