hi
from what i remember they a hard to keep in a general set up as they are filter feeders and can easily starve to death slowly
sorry i dont know anymore than they filter feed oh and dig in to the substrate :)
regards scot :)

All the information you need here.
Yeah...that was useless in this case :p. Net is full of rubbish info on them.

Clams are only worth keeping if you genuinely find them interesting biologically, otherwise they take a lot of effort considering how little they do.

Read these posts:freshwater mussels and clams, freshwater mussels and clams 2 and 3.

After you've read them and you still want one, the clam you'll probably want to be going for is Corbicula fluminea, the Asian clam.

Don't just walk into a pet store and buy any old clam.

ummmmm.....i dunno now

whats this talk of parasite larva i've been seeing

ps: (would a rock shrimp live with a congo frog)

Corbicula fluminea dont have parasitic larvae, you'll probably want to avoid the other species for other reasons listed in the links provided above :good:.

Remember to think of them as animals that need their own special care, and not just pieces of decoration.

Rock shrimp would be fine as long as the tank was big enough and has enough hiding places for when the shrimp sheds its skin, but will need to be fed crushed flake food in the area it is filter-feeding at least every couple of days too.

nows thats what i'm talking about :good:

i'm getting rock shrimp

and maybie a clam..

thanks you peoples :shout:
