Cichlids

When someone says they're going too get a pure cichlid tank what do they mean I thought these were semi aggressive can some one give me an idea of what they mean

People have and keep set-ups with different cichlids from certain origins, say for instance lake Malawi, they will have species that only come from lake Malawi meaning their set-up is pure and has all the correct species kept together. If that makes sense??
