Cichlids Dont Like Light

I just got my first 2 Cichlids less than a week ago, they are Yellow Labs about an inch long put them into my 120 gallon tank. The thing I knowticed with them is that they do not like the tank light on and they hide away in their caves when it is on. The light is only 36W which I find strange as it is such a low powered light. Is this normal? Are Cichlids sensitive to light?

being so small and new to the tank they  probably need to get used to their surroundings. if you could get a few more this would also help them not be so shy.
