cichlid question

Although I find cichlid's really interesting, I don't have any because I've read over and over again that they can't be with any other fish. However, today I was in a pet store, and I believe they had parrot cichlids in with tiger barbs. I didn't see any carniage. How could this be?

Depends on which parrot cichlid you are talking about. The hybrid can't open it's mouth large enough to eat them.

You can't keep tiger barbs with cichlids as a good general rule, but there are definately lots of cichlids you can keep together.


Ask away on what you are looking for...ie. size aggressiveness, colors etc and we can get you going or just give you some ideas to think about.

The 2 main things to know when it comes to cichlids is the length and depth (front to back) of your tank.
