Pseudotropheus demasoni..
Put them(six) into a 2 week old Bio-Spira'd tank Sunday.. PH = 8ish, GH= Where it should be(hard), no ammonia or nitrite.. Plenty of texas holey rock and aragonite sand.. 1 other is looking kinda pale as well. Didnt eat tonight.. And one that is alot darker didn't eat either and he's just kinda sitting there.. 1 is kind in a corner, about halfway up the water column, facing the surface?! The pale one is at the top just floating in the small current. And the darker one that didn't eat is sitting on the bottom. So out of the 6 I got, 1 died and 3 others don't seem quite right.. 2 of them have taken to the rocks and are seemingly happy.. Any thoughts? Posted this in the African cichlid forum too..

My thoughts are that the tank isn't cycled.

The rest will most likely die also.

nitrate is low although my kit does not test for it... No nitrite. no ammonia..... Biospira in for 2 weeks.. shelldwellers started in the tank a few weeks ago. They were all fine. It's not that it's not cycled.. Another died today :(

Hi, sorry to hear another one died. Are there any visable signs of parasite or fungus on the dead fish? If not it sounds like they are being poisoned by something. Anything you might have added to the tank just before they got sick? Decoration etc?

Nope just rinsed sand and the texas stone.. Been very cautious with this tank.. I feel like scrubbing the rocks now :)
