I’m new the cichlid world..
We got a parrot fish,
Initially he was cute and hiding everywhere, poking his head out in between the aquarium decor and we noticed he was only aggressive while he ate; so I had to feed him on one side of the tank and then the other fish when he wasn’t looking.
My molly didn’t like him and chased him around the tank every chance he got… let’s just say the Molly didn’t survive a couple days later…
he was fine with the angel fish, catfish, guppy and algae eater up until recently he started turning black on his fins. He got really aggressive.. like super duper mean;
He chases the angel fish around; the angel fish doesn’t fight back
But I think his next target is my algae eater. He started sizing up and going eye to eye with the algae eater and attacking; i know it’s time to take him back.
I’ve had my previous fish for a long time now so hate to see any more die..
I put him in a holding tank.. to take back..
Well he decided to do a suicide jump and jumped out of the holding tank and I’m not sure how long he was on the floor. We got him back into the holding tank and he resuscitated.. Lazarus style
I have two questions.. why is his fins black? He is on day 2 of ich x
Water parameters are fine. Could it be the tank was too small? 30 gallon
Is he going to be alright? This is what he looks like and I think his belly is swollen?
I gave him metroplex and focus yesterday suspecting internal parasites.
I’ll only get a group of baby cichlids next time when I setup my 55 gallon tank and let them grow together. It’ll be a cichlid tank. I don’t want to make the same mistake so I want to do a lot of research..
