Ciaphas And His Sand

My male betta looked like he had sand on him last night and I thought nothing of it. But this morning its all still there and all he does is go to the bottom of the tank n sleep. It looks like about 5 tiny grains of sand are stuck on him (not his fins). Any idea whats wrong and how to solve it?

PH and everything is normal
I did a water change a couple of days ago
I added some new fish on saturday.

Oh and he always gets out of the light for some reason like when I shine something on him to see if his gills are still moving he swims away to somewhere else dark.

i have a simular thing on a couple of mouth allmightys .. i think you will find its the beginning of a fungus add a bit of salt and a fungus cure .. its a start

ive seperated him and put a bit of salt in with him n am gunna get some white spot stuff etc 2moro.
