I bought a couple of pieces of cholla wood to use to anchor anubias and java ferns. Before tying plants on the wood, I soaked the wood for about 3 weeks.
Now, for the first time, I'm having issues with cloudy water. After a big water change (2/3 of tank), the next morning the water was cloudy again. The cholla
wood is the only thing different in my tank.

Has this happened to others or am I way off base? Need some input.

Driftwood can cause the water to go a milky cloudy. This usually stops after a month or so but can continue longer. It's caused by the wood being taken from trees and not soaked prior to you getting it. If it's bad, put the wood in a bucket of water outside and change the water a couple of times a week.

I am happy to report that cloudy water is gone. After soaking the choalla, I thought the wood was ready; after making three 60% water changes, I’ve got clear water.

Is Cholla wood driftwood or is it a dried cactus soft wood that is used for shrimp?

Cholla is a hard dried cactus wood from the Southwest of US. Its very attractive when wet in the tank.
