? Chocolate Knife

Hi there

This week end I bought 2 "Chocolate Knives" and was wondering if anyone can help me with a proper ID.

They are brown / grey in colour and have a white stripe from the top of their head to the tail. Body shape is more like BGK than African or Clown knives, and their fins are semi - transluscent.

Any ideas?

My LFS also said he will be getting Royal knives next week, anyone know what they look like?

Your fish sounds like Sternachella schotti, or the brown ghost knife fish as it is sometimes commonly known. They dont get as big as BGK's with a adult size of around 8 inches but can be a little more sensative to water quallity.

Royal knife fish look very alike to clown knife fish but lack the spots on the flank, the patterning is made of of lines and dots. They reach similar sizes to the clown knife fish and can be very aggressive
