Hi All,
I'm new to this Forum (but not new to fishkeeping!) and may I say that from what I've seen so far, it offers excellent and friendly advice!!
OK, on with my first ever question. I've recently been treating my tank with medication in an attempt to erradicate gill flukes. However, the med I have used hasn't done the job. Therefore, I have recently purchased some Chloramine T in the hope that this will do a better job (I have heard it's effective at getting rid of flukes which are notoriously difficult to get rid of) - I had to actually get the stuff through a vet since it's illegal to sell it off the shelf here in the UK! However, I have a few questions to ask before I use it.
What sort of dose rates should be given to a 35 and 18 Gallon tanks? The instructions aren't too helpful on this issue! Also, I can't quite figure out why a fish treatment is based on adding something (i.e. chloramine) that we actively try and remove from tap water - sure by adding this damage will occur to both the bacterial colonies and, to some extent, the fish.
If anyone out there has used this stuff and could give me some info on the best way to use it I would be very much grateful.
Thanks in advance
Simon
