Having read through the previous posts about repairing leaking/cracked tanks.
I purchased a 36x12x15 all glass tank and base on E----- for a small sum of £?*** only to find that when I removed the sellotape that was holding the backing display in place, that there was damage to the rear bottom left corner of the base sheet of glass it has a chip off the corner leading back into the silicone sealer, this might have been leaking because when I cleaned the gunk (PVC ceiling tiles)off the top of the base unit there are signs of water staining and swelling of the chipboard around the screws.

My Plan is to remove the seal bead from the inner corner on the verticals and the horizontals for a distance of about two and a half inches, clean it up, then get three pieces of 6mm glass and two inches square and attach these to the base and corner of the tank with silicone seal, re-form the bead seal then leave for 10 days to cure.

Any comments on this would be welcome!!!!
