I just got a chinesse algee eater and I would like to learn more about the species. Like what do they eat and what kinds of live, frozen, or veggies do they like (if they do). How long do they live, do they need to shoal, and if u can see that blurry pic is it a male or female?

chinese algae eaters grow to about a foot long and are highly territorial. They are primarily vegetarian but will eat anything offered, including dead or dieing fish. They will live in most water qualities and tolerate temperatures between 15 and 30 degrees C. They can live for 20 years or more and usually hide during the day, coming out at night. Yours is only a baby but the females get fatter than the males when they are a couple of years old.

I had a bad experience with mine-After 6 months in the tank they got big quick, and very boisterous. They would just headbutt other fish while flying around the tank. I've since found out they are best suited to very large tanks and best on their own. I wouldnt recommend and have seen literature confirming this. Good luck- I moved mine on.
