I have seen several people on the forum comment on how CAE get aggressive to other fish when they gt older...

So far mine seems perfectly friendly and on any given day tends to think he is a cory and will school with them.

How big/old do they get before they start to get aggressive??

Once they get to be more than 3-4 inches long I believe. If yours is the size of a cory, you probably have some time before you need to worry about anything.

When reading on Chinese Flying Foxes when I was getting my Siamese ones, I looked here:

What size is your tank? One of the above sites said that CFF should not be kept in less than a 75gallon tank because of how big they get and how aggressive they become.

I would never buy these guys. Saying that, I believe that fish are all different and that there are exceptions to what is usually said about a species. Perhaps factors such as tank size, feeding and tank mates will make a difference. I would not keep them with anything slow moving or flat so angel fish would be a no no, as they can suck onto the sides of other fish wen they become more aggressive.

Hope this helps.

Are you intending on keeping those Oscars in the 30g  .......I hope not, and from the look of that sig. you have a very expensive shopping list  .

SAEs are not FFs
there are SAEs, FFs, CAEs, and False SAEs the later three of the group get aggresive as they get older and the young are almost imposible to ID.

opcn

our cae was approx 1 inch big when we got him & was very peaceful until he grew to about 3&a half/4 inches ( about 5 months later) he then terrorized our corys every single minute of the day & prob night until we finally admitted defeat, caught him(no mean feat i can tell you) & rehomed him. shame cos we liked the fish but he just wasnt suitable for out tank < & we wish we'd done a bit more reserch before buying him - he was one of our first fish :(

Are you sure about that? I beg to differ.

Siamese Flying Foxes are also known as Siamese Algae Eaters, in fact they are always being called "true" algae eaters.

Where do you get your information?
