Cherry Shrimp Tank Suggestions

Thinking of setting up a small shrimp sanctury ~20Litres. So i am after some advice on what would make the dream home for a cherry shrimp, here is what I'm thinking.....

-20 Litre tank
-Small sponge filter
-lightly planted
-Sand substrate
-Medium sized rock with a good clump of moss on it
-Floating plant (Suggestions?)
-Maybe 1 fishy tank mate (Suggestions?)

how does that sound? any suggestions?

I wouldn't keep a fish in such a small tank with shrimp. Otherwise, everything sounds good.

For a floating plant I'd go with something like salvinia or duckweed. It would grow quickly and you could harvest it as a nitrate export. You would just need low-light plants in the tank as the duckweed would block some light.

Sounds good , I agree with Tyler, only ottos are 100% safe for shrimplets but they need to be in a little group and would want a bigger tank. When your cherry shrimp start to breed there will be lots of interest in the tank anyway, if you like any snails they would work well with the shrimp.

cheers guys, looks like i shall go for the shrimp only option then! Can any other variety of shrimp be kept with cherries?

you can use an elite stingray filter if you dont want to go the sponge filter route as shrimps need the water perfect as they will die so no nitrites and no ammonia .
i use stingrays in my shrimp and fry tank and it has never sucked up and shimplets or fry , there are a few other shrimp keepers on here who also use this type of filter
