So I had 5 cherry shrimmp, 4 females and 1 male. I noticed that most of the females were preggers, so i moved them to their own 5gal tank. 3 days later, there are small, yellow eggs attatched to the mossball. Is this normal? None of the females are carrying eggs anymore.......

that's what i thought too.

I'll keep an eye on them, and if they start to go bad i will take them out :(:(

I was really looking forward to baby shrimpies lol

Sharon is right. Shrimplets hatch out from mum's tummy

Possible reasons for the abortion:

- the shock of being transferred.
- first time mums sometimes abort their eggs. Things will improve as they gain experience.
- your male is still too young (I recall reading in another forum about this)

Your females should be able to carry eggs again very soon anyway. I'm sure Sharon will agree with me on this

Do you know how long they had been carrying the eggs? If the eggs are near hatching time, it is possible to keep them until they hatch. I have done it before with some success. I keep the loose eggs in a small tub of tank water together with some moss or plant clippings and float it in the tank. Change 50% of the water with clean tank water every day and see what happens.

As iSnail said the male may be too young, are you sure that you do have a male, when I first got mine the lfs only sold females. They are tough little critters and dont drop eggs if they are fertile.

I think it was the shock of the move. They had been carrying for a week, maximum. Cheers.

I'm pretty sure i have a male - They were a batch i got off someone else. One is clear.

Btw.... they are carrying again. :hyper:

Cheers for the help.
