Hello all,

I am going to be getting another 10 Gallon tank soon that I wanted to plant and keep about 7-10 Neon Tetras in and 6-12 Cherry Shrimp in. I am wondering if I need to worry about inbreeding with the Cherry Shrimp like I would with Mollies or Guppies? Or if as they breed and I try and sell them locally on craigslist if I should just occasionally buy a few new ones to change up the diversity?

Thanks.

Introducing fresh blood is always advisable, otherwise you'll soon find that the off spring my suffer from the founder affect.

+1. They will become weaker over time so new shrimp from a different source should be mixed in every few generations.

It's always good to add new blood. If you add better quality shrimp you will get better coloured shrimplets as well.

cheers,
Ben :good:
