My cherry shrimp have manged to breed (only had them a couple of weeks!) so I now have around 10 babies. I currently feed the adults (they aren't that big, teenagers? lol) the odd algae wafer, but mainly leave them to it. (tank is quite well planted)

Should I feed anything different for the babies? And should I feed the adults anything more?

Aglea wafers are good. :good:

Any invertebrate food will suffice as extra food, as long as it does not contain any large amounts of copper! Make SURE there is no copper, it will kill your shrimps. Also, small bits boiled veg e.g. squash or spinach can be fed now and again.

With your tank, you could set up a nice colony of 200 shrimp, with no other fish. Would look great. :good:

Cherry shrimp babies require no extra care from what I've seen. They gather algae and detritus just like their parents.

I usually get a small population of cherries sucked into my filter. On one occasion where I hadn't cleaned out my filter for a month or so I discovered hundreds of babies living inside, and two full-sized shrimp. It seems they had bred and given birth in there, and the babies, though cramped, were doing just fine.

Makes me wonder if the "refugium" concept ought to be extended to freshwater tanks.
