I have a 54 litre tank which at the mo has 6 long finned zebra danios in and I am really happy with it. Do you think 2 or 3 cherry barbs would be a good addition. Re Compatability and stocking level. I take readings regularly and all is fine at the moment.

Cheers

I think they'd be great for your tank, I'm thinking of getting some myself for the same sized tank. :)

Get one male and one female, or even better, one male and two females. :) And make sure they get enough veg. they're easy to breed too in case yo uever want to ;)

Hi...

We've got 6 now (lost 1 recently)

If you can, get more males than females and their colour will be a great addition.

the males go a really great rich pinky red (cherry) when the females are ready to spawn. our male is always coloured up as he is in with 6 (now 5) females.

they are a very peacful fish and generally keep themselves to themselves.

they like plants.

i thoguht you were menat to have fewer males than females, to stop the males harrassing the females?

they dont seem to hastle each other like danios etc...

we've got more male black rosy barbs than female and they are ok. (with great colour too)

Cherry barbs are not a naturally schooling/shoaling species. In smaller tanks, males may fight, sometimes to the death. You may get away with it, but I wouldn't try in a tank that small. A pair, or trio, 1m 2f is generally best.
