Hello I hope somone can shed some light on my predictament, I have 4 cherry barbs one is female, the largest cherry barb keeps attacking the other cherry barbs and I have noticed that the female and one of the other males, both have one eye missing.
It appears the aggresive male is nipping them out. Has anyone ever come across this behaviour before, and if so is there anything I can do to prevent this.

hi, what size tank is it, and what is the full stocking? i'm surprised that you have such an aggressive cherry barb, mine all seem quite peaceful. are you sure that they are all cherry barbs?

cheers :good:

I can't really shed any light on this however Cherries are best to be kept 1 male to 3-4 females. This stops the females being pestered too much.

too fast has hit the nail on the head, i reckon. You need to balance the male to female ratio out a bit.

Sorry i cant help with the aggression, but a question to all you Cherry owners - i have got 6 (2 male i think - based on them being 'cherry' red) they are all really tiny and don't seem that interested in food.
I usually feed them granular food, but crush some between my fingers so its small enough, but usually my other fish eat it all first, no matter how much i feed them!
I also have tried feeding flake food, which they occasionally nibble at, and frozen food (bloodworm etc) but this all gtes eaten by the big guys as well.

What do you guys feed your cherry's and how do you make sure they get some?

Hi Pest Control, I only have a 14 gallon tank. I have 4 cherry barbs, and 1 black mollie. I am preety sure they are all cherry barbs as they look just like the photos I have seen on these fish forums.
I have searched the internet for information on this behaviour but cannot find anything relating to this type of behaviour.
