Cherry barb parasite?

We have recently added some more cherry barbs to our tank and I have just noticed this on one of them. Should I be worried? I’m not sure what it is

Hi I can’t get another photo I have 9 of them and they just don’t keep still I can’t see it really now it’s highlighted when she/he goes under the light it’s a little white thing it might be normal I’m not sure?

He has some health problems, as there seems to be a suspicious kink in his spine. But if you are seeing a worm, looking at its colour, praziquantel based meds would be my choice. Every country has its different brands - go for the active ingredient. The white thing is internal, right?

first off, if it only one fish remove it from the community tank and treat with SeaChem Paraguard and add Aquarium Salt follow the directions on the bottle. If there are more fish remove any catfish from the tank and add Aquarium Salt and Paraguard.

I would just start off with salt... You never really want to do two treatments at once as that can stress the fish. First use the one thats not as stressful on the fish amd THEN if its not working, use paraguard.

I understand what you are saying but I do this whenever I have a problem of any kind I have not lost a patient yet. The salt will kill any parasite eggs and the Paraguard not only kills the parasite but will also treat any fungal or bacterial issues.

Ok... Sounds like it works really good but I still would be cautious about using two meds

Thank you for your responses. From what I’ve seen it’s only on that one in the photo but since they’ve been in my tank they all bulked up a bit and I can’t see it anymore. And I can’t seem to find which one it was on as they all look identical now In the photo it does really look like the tail is kinked but I can see all 9 of them right now and none of them are kinked? I’m not sure what’s happened maybe they just weren’t being cared for or feed high quality food, I did buy them from pets at home. Here’s some photos of them.
