how often do you find your having to mess around with your tanks? mines only about 1 month old and im finding im going home everyday and doing things like, water changes, fishing snails out, removing dead leaves etc

Ive had mine around 6 weeks, and give it a partial water change of 25% each week, i had some problems with Ammonia, but im pleased to say its fine now, i have done checks on it for the last few days just to monitor it.

I put some Prime(red) in, to get rid of the Ammonia, and i add Cycle each day, this appears to have worked :D

My readings today were

NitrAte 0
Nitrite 0
PH 7
Ammonia 0

What are your stats?

I do a weekly water change/light gravel vac/general tidy-up (twice weekly for cories). Or are we counting time spent gawping adoringly at the fish? Now that could add up....

On my main 300ltr tank I do 3 water changes a week but that is because of the discus, usually 30% each time.

Without the discus you could get away with one water change a week.

I spent lots of time with the variouse tanks but most of the time Im looking for things to do because i enjoy it.

There is always more to do at first, you'll probably find next month you wont need to half as much work.

just like you i get home from work, say hi to the 3 tanks and always end up with my arm in one within 5 minutes.

i'd say i fiddle about for 10 mins every day doing something or other not including the 3 hours of water changes at the weekend (4/5 if i'm pruning as well!!!)

sad i know but hey i live in a quiet village, theres not a lot else to do.

ph - 7.6
high range ph - 7.4
ammonia - 0.25
nitrate n02 - 0
nitrate n03 - 10

these were mine last saturday, havent tested it again. will water changes increase the chances highly of bringing down my levels?

I cant understand why my NitrAte is still showing as 0, it must be the Prime(red) i have put into the tank, to get rid of the Ammonia, i wonder if it has affected my NitrAte? Anyone? Lol

I dont think thats sad atall jimbooo, Im exactly the same.....its time better spent than sitting watching some rubbish on the telly.

Whenever people come over they comment on the tanks and take a genuine interest, Im begining to think they come to visit the fish not me.

my blue lobster (called Dr Zoidberg) is always a crowd pleaser.
