Hey All,

Does anyone here use a cheap alternative to all those wayyy expensive MH light units. I want one for my tank, but the cost of the 'proper' ones from aquatic supply stores is just too much.

Will something like this work that is on ebay; and maybe just use a different spectrum bulb?

Ebay MH

Im after just a 70w light unit, would prefer something that is already setup and running.

Thanks.

You have lots of options for providing plenty of light for your plants Audia. I cannot comment on the specific fixture that you are looking t but any fixture that fits your tank and provides enough light wattage will work for you. If your specific plant light requirement is met by the lamp that you are considering, and you have no better alternatives, go for it. Sooner or later we each must pay the price of paying for the power used by the plants that we want to grow. I have never found it necessary to go to metal halide fixtures but my own lighting needs have never really been that high.
